The Mob Museum (rebrand)

Project

Graphic Design II / Advertisement Campaign

Date

Oct. 2024

The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement presents two sides of various stories from popular government officials to infamous crime lords in 1920s America. The old courthouse, now turned museum, held trials of famous mob gangsters from Al Capone to Lucky Luciano. The overall theme gathered from this museum is dark and unassuming in both the stories and the atmosphere presented.

The project objective is to design an advertisement campaign for any museum of choice. The Mob Museum provided ample work for experimentation with photographic and typographic elements. The Museum displays stories from various individuals involved in the mob, many of which appeared intentionally vague. There is a theme of concealing and revealing certain characteristics of people in the poster who were also incarcerated. Al Capone and John Gotti are the central figures presented in the ad campaign. The newspaper clippings shown in the campaigns' background are reports of the crimes committed by the individuals or other mob gangsters in the 1920s and 30s.
